Meet Sammy Smart. She’s twelve years old and knows it all. That’s why she’s better off leaving home and finding her own way . . . But, where?
Well, she actually hasn’t thought it through that far. What she does know for sure is: she can’t stand Mum’s new boyfriend. So she’s out of there! But running away this time is not as simple as it used to be. She and best friend, Lucy, witness a burglary involving a family member, and she knows the consequences are going to be worse than just being grounded. Running back to the safety of home, their secrets put their lives in danger.
Running away is not the happy adventure she’d imagined it would be! And just how much trouble is she really in now?

From the Author:
I originally wrote Runaway as part of an assignment for a writing course. One particular assignment was to write an exciting first chapter. I ended up writing more outside of the course, but didn’t look at finishing it until much later when I was encouraged by my husband to complete the story. While on “maternity leave” (an extended one, since I decided to resign from my full-time job to become a full-time mother soon after I got married), I tried out a Proofreading, Editing and Publishing course, and out of that came this little project. Once this “baby” was out, I was asked if there was going to be a sequel. I have since been working on that … but as life would have it, I had another (real) baby to raise, had to get a day-job as I needed some money to finance my hobbies, and generally needed to start having adult conversations again.
But watch this space … Sammy may have a few adventures left to take!
