A change…
I’ve recently shared on my socials that we have escaped Sydney and finally made the move to a more regional part of New South Wales. It has now been a fortnight since the physical move of all our belongings from the north-west of Sydney to a suburb just outside of Port Macquarie. We are enjoying that ‘lil bit more space than our 300 square-metre urban block in Box Hill, and are looking forward to getting our hands ‘dirty’ with attempts to grow our own veggies (like tomatoes, cucumbers and so on) and reducing the battle with everyday traffic. It is a huge leap of faith, moving four hours away from all our family and friends. But we have been overwhelmed with support as well as expressions of genuine affection. Also, we’ve seen God’s guidance and provision throughout the whole home-hunting journey as well as through the welcome we’ve felt through what may seem like random people opening their arms to us, along with Sydney friends linking us with their connections here in Port Macquarie.
As you can probably appreciate, not much writing has been done since the release of my last book, Smarty-pants, in October. However …
In publishing news …

I am so humbled and grateful to announce that my short story, Remember When (which has been published as a picture book and is in limited supply due to the closure of the publisher), is once again going to be published by the Department of Education (NSW) in its School Magazine this coming July. They were the very first to acquire this story and publish it in 2013, giving me the encouragement I so desperately needed in the early years when I first admitted I was a writer. And recently, they contacted me for permission to publish it again. This means Remember When will reach a new generation of readers with its message of love and compassion for our elderly and those who live with or care for those who have dementia. I have a limited supply of the picture book available for purchase (here), and haven’t yet decided whether to self-publish it. There are a number of considerations, one in particular is sourcing and financing a new set of illustrations for this project. But this story is so close to my heart, with a message I truly believe is so important, so a second edition may very likely come out in the future.
On a huge tangent, I must share with you some pics of my emotional support animal. (We didn’t really buy him for that purpose. He was more of an impulse buy. But I think we all need a support pet, don’t you?) Had it not been for this little burrito, the last couple of years would have been a lot less bearable. The poor little guy doesn’t know what’s just happened! But he seems to be enjoying the larger running space in his new back yard.
